Notice on the Revision of Submission Guidelines

Dear Members of the Korean Academy of Pediatric Dentistry,

The Editorial Committee of the Journal of the Korean Academy of Pediatric Dentistry would like to inform you that, in order to further internationalize the journal, the submission guidelines have been revised to conform to international journal standards. We kindly ask all authors to refer to the revised guidelines when preparing manuscripts for submission.

These changes will apply to all manuscripts newly submitted on or after July 1, 2023. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Key Changes to the Submission Guidelines

  1. Language Requirement
In principle, all submitted manuscripts must be written in English.
  2. English Editing Requirement
All English manuscripts must undergo professional English editing by a qualified academic editing service. Authors must attach the editing certificate and the receipt issued by the editing service provider at the time of submission.
  3. Manuscripts Translated from Korean
If a manuscript originally written in Korean is translated into English, the review may be rejected if the edited English does not meet a native-speaker standard or if the charged editing fee is considered excessively high compared to the usual cost. Only the standard editing fee for manuscripts originally written in English will be recognized.
  4. Informed Consent for Case Reports
For case reports, informed consent for publication must be obtained from the patient or the patient’s guardian. This must be clearly stated in the main text of the manuscript.
  5. Korean Title and Abstract
A Korean abstract is not required. However, the Korean title must be entered in the submission system at the time of submission.
  6. Publication Fees
Manuscripts accepted for publication are subject to the publication fee specified in the submission guidelines. English manuscripts are not exempt from this publication fee.
  7. Cover Letter
Authors are required to submit a cover letter together with their manuscript. There is no fixed format, but authors may refer to the cover letter template available on the journal website.
  8. Responses to Revision Requests
All responses to revision requests must be written in English. If necessary for clarity, Korean may be added after the English text.

Sincerely,
Editorial Committee
Journal of the Korean Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
